Default How to fix Polaris exhaust problem?

I have a 1995 Polaris 425 4x4 magnum. It runs well, but the exhaust gets very hot. The exhaust pipe runs close to the body on the right side, and has gotten so hot that it has slightly melted the plastic. I've use an exhaust wrap in the past, which worked okay. Is there a better way to keep the exhaust pipe from melting the plastic on the body?
Thanks,
Dan

Exhaust wrap and reflective heat tape are the two best ways I know of to help with your problem. Another thing that could be causing excessive heat is running too lean. Some models just have the tendency of running hot, like some of the 800's.

Some guys have the pipes coated such as Jet Hot coating to keep them cooler...Not cheap but works..

My old 425 did the same thing.I just put more heat tape on the heat shield and learned to not let my leg get on the cover. If you burn a hole in your cover drop me a pm I have a couple good ones
