Hey can any of you guys shed some light on this?? My magnum 500 won't come out of high gear, even when the neutral light is on the cluster, if I try to put it in another gear it simply won't move. Also the 4x4 doesn't always work, does this have anything to do with the speedo? This is very frustrating as it is my only means of plowing my driveway. Pls help?

 

welcome to the forum. can you move the gear selector w/ the engine turn off? will it change gears like this? if not it sounds like maybe something like a bent shift fork or broken pin inthe transmission is the issue(just a guess w/ out looking). not sure on the magnums, but on the sportsmans if the speedo doesn't work then the awd won't in some cases as the awd is ran through the speedo.

 

Yes I can move the gear selector although it is still in gear. I think I saw a post about taking the cover that the linkage runs through on the tranny off and cleaning it. Man, I really love this wheeler but it is a huge pain in the neck to work on.

 

Take the rightside cover off and see if both rods are moving the levers on top of tranny when you move the shifter if they are moving but its still in forward, unhook them one at atime from tranny, get some channel locks and try to shift the tranny manually let us know what happens
