These specs are from my '05 700 manual...not sure if the 500's are the same...front hub nut: 70 ft. lbs... rear wheel hub nut: 80 ft. lbs....front a-arm ball joint stud nut: 25 ft. lbs.....

How did you get the ball joint out? I've been trying for hours

Remove the grease zerk on the strut if you have one(gets rid of the vacuum effect while removing and installing). Light heat on the housing usually helps and/or slide hammer. I have also used an old bearing race or equivalent a little bigger diameter than the housing it sits in then slide a box end wrench or preferably a balljoint seperator (if you have one-they come in handy)smaller diameter than the castle nut on the threaded portion. Put the castle nut on and use an air wrench to tighten while utilizing the wrench as a fulcrum. Should pop it out. Put the new one in the freezer for a little while before installing and it will go in easily.

Well I guess I should have given you a little bit of background info... The pin that sits in the ball joint (what you put the castle nut on) has come out. So all I am left with is the ball joint housing stuck in the strut housing. Hope that makes sense.

My onlt suggestion is weld a bolt to the piece in the joint then us a threaded puller to pull it out.

A propane torch to heat the strut housing, as stated , weld a bolt to whats left, I usually heat the strut then put vice grips on the ball joint bolt and hit the vice grips with a hammer when the strut gets hot they will come out, have a deep socket the same size as the new joint , slide over bolt and tap in while strut is still hot
