Default Sportsman 700 EFI (new to me)

Just bought a 2005 Sportsman 700 EFI this weekend. I'm a rookie to this and wonder if there is any thing unique or quircky about this machine I should know about it. Hope it is as good a machine as it seems. Thanks for any insight.

I have a 2002 700 and a buddie has the 05 EFI 700, they are both rock solid machines. My Hall Effect sensor and voltage regulator went, but other than that its been great. My buddie just got the EFI, he is pissed because I can take him with my 700 carb but I have mods his is stock. He had a problem with his ETC switch for the throttle causing it to stall all the time, but that was a quick adjustment.

Had a 04 carb with 5000 miles and a 07 efi with 6600 miles they were both great machines.
Just ride it and have lots of fun with it.

I know I can,t believe the amount people who think a throttle body somehow with give you more power than a carb. I know EFI has there advantages with easier cold starting.

My friend freaked when he lost to me on a 500x2 EFI, his ATV is heavier because its a larger 2up ATV and had heavier 26" wheels, but he thought a 39mm throttle body was going to make it a rocket ship vs a 40mm carb somehow also.

The 450KTM motorcross won the 2010 shootout and it was the only carbed bike in the bunch.

2010 KTM 450 SX-F Comparison - Motorcycle USA

Despite not employing electronic fuel-injection and instead relying on a Keihin FCR 41 carburetor, jetting and throttle response were spot-on
Keep your wrist locked and where the EFI bikes are stalling out, the KTM just keeps pulling all the way to the rev limiter with class-leading top end.

We were a KTM dealer along with Polaris. KTM is one of the best bikes out there.(saw em slowly develop from 1988 to 2011) Noted mainly for enduros and cross country racing, they have come a long way back in to motocross too, they have developed 4-strokes as light as 2-strokes and capable as producing as much power.Plus the carb machines are simple and easy to tune unlike efi. Just as the article quotes carbs aren't going away any time soon I hope! OPT

Thanks all for the reassurance. Here is a pic of my new toy. Less than 1100 miles on it. Supposedly only used for trail riding in Minnesota by a very particular person. Dealer said they didn't even have to wash it when it came in on trade. Kinda like the little old lady selling the used car she only used to get to church on Sunday. LOL Anyway, I hope it is a good machine for a long time.
