Default CV joint

Well had my sportsman 400ho out two weekends ago and went through a hole got throught it and went to the creek to clean the bike off and when backing up heard a clicking sound and found a ripped cv boot well went ahead and pakced up and rode the ten miles home and got to it yesterday and replaced the boot. Now I cleaned the whole bearing and housing or whatever you call it on my rear outer joint and didnt seem nothing wrong with it now there was a little rust on some spots from sitting for a few weeks but put everything back together and it is still clicking now my question is that the joint looks and feels ok but is the rust causing it to kinda get held up sometimes and maybe could this be something that could maybe work itself out after a little bit of riding. And if I was to ride it with the clicking what else could I possibly damage??

once they start clicking it's too late to fix them. it might go a long tme beofre it breaks but it will fail some day. the rust pits the chrome causing it to where the bearings out. i've had to replace a few in my day and i've tried cleaning then repacking w/ grease to no avail sorry to say.

Here is a good video on how to clean and inspect the Polaris cv joint. YouTube - ‪polaris cv joint disassembly front axle scrambler 400-500 4x4‬‏

Seems to be parts that can be put together the wrong way if your not careful. He explains it at 2:50 into the Video.

Good luck.
