2002 500 Sportsman - Fan won't come on
#2
I believe the temp sensor is behind and towards the top of radiator on your machine, unplug sensor with key on and fan should run, if not hook 12 volts to fan and see if it runs, if it does, sensor is bad ,if it does not, fan is bad,

Frist check you fan, I uses two jumper leads from a 12V batter to the two fan wires and found out my fan was shot.
The thermal switch that tell the fan to come on is screwed in the bottom corner of the rad. Check if its two wires are broke or disconnected before replacing.
If you Switch is like mine a Polaris which I think it is. Part Number 4010161
these thermal sensors from a auto parts store will work, you just have to spice your old sensor's wire plug in connection on the end.
Napa FS147
Wells SW526
Blue Streak TS-127.
or any sensor for a 84-88 Nissan Maxama or 86-89 Nissan Stanza will work.
If you need a fan do not get one from a dealer, there built by a company called "Spal"
I think your fan is a Polaris Part#

Thanks for your help guys! Sensor is bad. Dealer wants $69.53 for a replacement. Might try the NAPA part. Radiator cap doesn't look great so I want to replace that, too. Dealer wants $39.00 for a friggin' radiator cap!
