Default Yamaha Breeze HELP NEEDED!!!

I was just given a 1989 125 Breeze for my kids. It was not running when i got it. I tore the carb off and soaked and cleaned it top to bottom. I got it running but.... I can only get it started on starting fluid and i need to keep my thumb on the throttle to keep it running. The idle races every once in a while while trying to keep it running. Any info would be greatly appreciated as my kids cant wait to ride this thing...

did you remove the jets and the float assembly and clean them thoroughly? make sure the float assembly/needle works correctly. if it starts on starter fluid, it ain't getting fuel. make sure the fuel tank is vented so it won't vacuum lock, make sure you're getting fuel through the petcock valve down through the fuel filter and to the carburetor. get back with us with results.

I have cleaned everything in the carb. Once i start it with the starter fluid it will run, I mean I can ride it around the yard and everything else. It just don't seem to start with out it. I am wondering if its the idle or mixture screw????

I have a 1989 breeze and when you start it the idle is very high and the idle screw does nothing for it. Please someone else me. Thanks

Welcome to the forums.
Remove and clean the carb. Chances are that'll fix it.
