I removed the front u-joint to replace it on my 400 without pulling the front diff.
But to get the new one in I had to unbolt it from the frame as I needed that extra 1/4 inch to get the shaft back in place.
Also, don't forget to use blue lock-tite on the bolts holding the shaft in place when reassembling.
