2000 Xplorer 250
Usually the starter works just fine. I originally had problems with it getting wet, but lately that isn’t the issue.
Last week I tore it all apart to get to the starter because I could hear the solenoid clicking but the starter wasn’t kicking in. Pulled the starter out and it works fine. So I re-installed it.
Tried to jump the solenoid - nothing.
Took the cables off the solenoid, touched them together - the starter spins.
Hook the cables back to the solenoid, it clicks, but the starter won’t spin.
Installed a new solenoid - everything works fine.

Yesterday, started the quad like normal to let it warm up. After 2 or 3 minutes I shut it off. Ten minutes later i went to start it - nothing but a clicking solenoid. The starter hasn’t kicked in since. The solenoid clicks, but no starter action. Whether it’s cold or hot.

Is there something I’m missing? What else could it be? It works off and on, with no discernible pattern.
I’m baffled. Please help. Would the relay have anything to do with it?

Still could be a flat spot on the armature of the starter. Tap the starter with a hammer and if it starts,cheaper just to replace the blame thing rather than to tear back into it as brush kits alone may not help in a lot of cases.Plus don't over look the obvious such as tight connections and the battery itself if it hasn't been load tested.DB Electrical - 250
