Hi there, Have had this 2000 LT80 for 5 years or so, now the sprocket and chain (OEM) have so much slack that even adding a tensioner would still have a ton of slop, so I ordered 1987/88 sprockets from Suzuki (12/26) and bought a 1o foot box of #40 chain from the local supplier.

The sprockets are a week away, so while I had this all apart, I notice there is some play in the axle, so I pulled the axle out and the left side bearing feels a bit rough.

I searched and searched but did not see any info on these bearings on the forums, tho several places have "kits" for sale.

The dealer can get the bearings, but the two seals (one side is different so they say) and two bearings is a lot more than the online kits.

A few questions:
Are the seals and bearings some thing I can match up at a local bearing house?

I see some of the online bearings are sealed, so does that mean it would not need any grease in the zerk fitting if those bearings are used?

Do the bearings come out easy once the seals are pulled?

UPDATE: for any future info people may need, I found a kit sold by allballsracing.com that seems to be around $25 or so. I am in ALberta Canada, and they had a cross reference with a parts canada part number, my local supplier will have it tomorrow, :-)

The part number is 25-1158, and their page is:

There is also an installation info sheet on that page. Very happy to find all that, and the price is right!

While waiting for the new parts, I did remove the old bearings (with a long punch, tapped it out all around circumference) and seals, and fyi:
KOYO 62/32RS is the bearing
KOYO-CR MHRA 42 65 7J is the number on each seal

OK, after a bit of a snafu with the parts supplier, got the bearings this morning, the new sprockets yesterday and bolted it all back together just now.

The new bearings are sealed. I thought about it, and decided to leave the rear axle without any grease as these bearings are sealed.

Is that OK?

 

If there are oil seals as well, these need lubricating too.

 

The sealed bearings will need to be greased. The grease will push right by the lil things that seal the bearings.
