Polaris 400: New starter and still no turnover.
#1
Hi All,
I thought I would be able to fix this issue easily, but guess not. Thought my starter went bad on my Polaris Big Boss 400, so I changed it out but to no avail it still wont turnover.
- I bench tested the starter and it spins at 6v - so that's working perfect. (Bench tested my old one and that works well too)
- I checked and cleaned the main ground from the battery
- I have bypassed the solenoid all together
- I'm getting 13v at the starter with a new battery
My land, what am I'm doing wrong? Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad

HI, OPT. I have the new starter hooked up and just sitting on the foot panel. There is no restriction to the gears causing it to bind up.. Any other thoughts? The main ground from the battery goes to the engine, is there an engine to frame ground I should be checking? All my lights and winch work so Im thinking the ground is ok.
Any help is a appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad

Front and rear drive shafts have circlips that hold cv joints on the shaft. Most just have a plain c clip holding things together. Just loosen the big clamp on the boot and knock the cv joint off the shaft, remove the old boot, slide on the new one, align the cv splines with the shaft and knock it back on with a block of wood to protect the shaft threads or a dead blow hammer.Plunging joints on the newer models have a circlip that you have to pry apart See if this video helps.
