Default 500 HO water pump shaft

Hello all, it's been a while. In fact I came on here hoping to get "Old Polaris Tech" but I see he has sadly passed away some time ago.

The atv has taken a back seat for a few years due to having young kids but they are now up a little and have their own atv, So it felt like it was time to get the old 50Sportsman up and running. There are a few things on the list but the elephant in the room is the water pump shaft which has snapped. I have a new shaft and I set about removing the engine to drop it in at the dealers for them to do the replacement.
Now that we are in "lockdown" due to covid 19 I wondered about tackling it myself.

Can anyone advise on the job? I'm fairly competent having previously rebuilt the atv however I haven't split an engine before.

Thanks in advance of any advice offered.

James
