Still having fuel overflow issues despite rebuilding the carb with new needle and seat, setting float height and checking float for leaks. I would prefer to replace the entire carb but cannot find one. Anyone out there know of a good aftermarket carb I could get?

I don't know those early Suzukis, but most Suzukis have a vacuum operated fuel tap and if you leave it on prime you will get problems. OK the float needle should stop fuel flow, but on other makes an overflow pipe runs fuel onto the ground, Suzukis don't have this because the tap should shut fuel off as soon as the engine stops, as long as you have the tap on run. As for the carb, once dirt is in the tank, it will keep jamming the float needle open, a new carb will do exactly the same. An in line filer would help, but they tend to air lock if run dry, as it would between running out and going onto reserve.

I've found that the motor does not have proper cylinder pressure/compression. I measured 100 lbs. and the service limit is 145 lbs. Pulled the head and cylinder and found a broken ring. Cylinder is good and in spec. for a standard piston/ring set. May be able to use the old piston. Thanks for the comments.
