Default 02 Honda Foreman Rubicon 500 Tranny issues

Hey y’all, I got a 02 foreman rubicon 500 with the hondamatic. I just did the whole top end and new piston and rings. Got it running, hit the throttle and it bogged down then would try to go but the tranny started to whine loudly. It will not go forward but will go in reverse about 2 mph for a few feet then bog down and stall.
There’s no noise while idling, idles a little rough but been sitting for a year.
I need some help. I don’t know anything about the Hondamatic tranny.

Sounds like the Hondamatic has gone into fail safe mode. This can be a nightmare to fix. Not sure how sophisticated the self diagnosis system was on those early Rubicons, but it should be flashing fault codes. I had one that did this, changed angle sensor and it lasted a few hours before doing it again, changed again and it faulted after a short time again. Sent bike to a main dealer, who couldn't find the fault either but changed the whole wiring loom (original loom had repaired rodent damage) and the bike was OK after that.
