My sportsman 500 has a k&n filter but i have done no carb mods or any other mods. What mods should i do and how much power is not being used because i have not done any mods. Thanks in advance for any replies. I'm also wondering on an alternative tire to the stock expensive 2 ply crap ones that doesn't sacrifice ride.

WHAT SIZE CARB? DO YOU HAVE THE EBS BRAKING SYSTEM? I TOOK OFF MY EBS BECAUSE IT ROBS YOU OF 6 MPH AND 15 % OF YOUR POWER. THE BEST MOD I HAVE FOUND FOR MINE IS TO HAVE THE HEAD AND VALVES PORTED OUT, THE FACTORY SETUP IS VERY RESTRICTED. I ALSO INSTALLED A SCRAMBLER 500 CARB AND CAM. I USE MUDRUNNER TIRES AND STILL BLOW OFF ALL THE OTHER SP'S AROUND HERE. IF RIDERS OF LESS EXPERENCE RIDE YOUR SCOOT THEN YOU MAY WANT TO LEAVE YOUR EBS ON SINCE IT DOES HELP SLOW THE BIG BEAST DOWN, BUT I HATED IT FROM THE START SO BYE-BYE IT WENT AND HELLO MORE POWER.

 

I have ebs and i think the carb is 162 or 165. i haven't changed the jet settings on it. I was thinking about going with spider trak tires

 

For a better upgrade over the stock tires I also recommend the Goodyear Mudrunners. I rate the ride about as smooth as the stock tires and they really claw through the mud.
