The 2000 models had a recall on the A arm mounting plates, but I have not heard anything on the 2001 models. If you bought it new, Honda would contact you with a recall notice if there was one, or call your dealer and ask.

I have both the recall notices scanned on my site under the Rancher section.

If thats what they say, call Honda and tell them because thats REALLY F@!$%D UP! I have a 2001 rancher and I needed to bring mine to my dealer to have the 2 recalls fixed. The first are the A-Arms. They put in 2 "u" brackets inbetween the a-arm joints, the second is the shift plate, they say it is too thin and under extreme conditions it will bend. Now, there have been NO incodents of anybody having any a-arm trouble, but people say when going off large jumps they feel too much flex in the front end.. As for the shift plate, who knows, I havent heard of any bent shift plate, but why not get a new thicker one? So bring it to another dealer that actually knows what their talking about.. And call honda to complain about your dealer!!!

The recall on the front end is two u-brackets that reasures the strength because of some possible missed welds. And the shift plate is replaced because some have cracked under rough use and prevent the machine from shifting.I have seen a broken one once from a recall I did,I have probably done 20 or more. Not a real big problem.
