right now i ride a 200sx and it is fun but when i try racing or i try to get up a steep hill i need more power so i am wondering what would be a good used LOW budget atv (old pre 1990) for an upgrade from my 200sx. i was thinking 250x,warrior,lt250qs,mojave etc

what would be the best for the least amount of money?

sofar i am going with the warrior due to the lack of problems and the e-start, reverse, fast top speed etc

thanks

Well I have seen alot of problems with older warriors, reliability, motor problems, electrics, ect ect ect. I would suggest a 250X, they have good power and they are alittle faster then a 300ex STOCK vs STOCK. They have reverse and all and they kick over real easy. AWESOME wheelie machine, good hill climber, better suspension then a warrior. But my question for you is how fast do you wanna go ? If you wanna go fast then get an LT250 I think thats what you were talking about. My friend had a mojave and he useto ice race with it and it would kik some a$$ (thats what I was told). Good Luck.

I know a guy who has an 87 warrior and its still running stock. The only problem with it is the starter quit, but if you remember correctly, in 87 they still had the kickstart, so he's in good shape still. I can't personally speak for the other bikes other than the 250X. It is a good bike too, and like Killer said, great wheelie action. The warrior has more power but is a lot heavier. Not that it can't wheelie, I used to wheelie mine just fine. Pull it up in 2nd gear then start shifting, I could ride one until I hit 5th. But anyways, there's my 2 cents. Lata.

I owned a 1991 250X, and it was rock solid. So in my book it would be a great choice.

<< in 87 they still had the kickstart >>

Not to be picky or anything but they had pull start back up.

I would go with the 250X, its a strong bike. I have a 91, a year and a half after I got mine I put the 350x motor in it. warriors are a lot heavier for bounceing around in the woods. + they eat gas

91 TRX350X
85 ATC250R
86 ATC200X

92LT, thanks for clearing that up, I knew they had a backup, but wasn't sure if it was kick or pull. My 2000 had no back up, luckily for me I had no problems with the electric starter, but I know some people that weren't so lucky. Not that its a problem with all warriors, these ones just weren't taken care of.

krabill, I did the same thing with the 92 250X that I had(put the 350X motor in). Talk about some power! I couldn't keep the front end down!

How much are you willing to spend??

You can check the trader.ca web-site....there is a 250X for sale on there, also try the Tri-Ad. There should be alot of ATV's up there in barrie for sale.

Dont get rid of that 200SX
