Are you completely satisfied with your current clutching? Is their anything about your clutching that you would like to change? (Like, a lower engagement or a faster shift.) Are you merely satisfied with your clutching or are actually very happy with it? Have you ever thought about a clutch kit? If so, what were you wanting to gain?

I am asking you guys these questions because I am curious what people think about their clutching. I know that thier are lots of clutch kits out there but I think the cost of these sometimes steer people away because they don't think they will help all that much. Not to mention the installation.

I am not wanting anyone to help me decide on anything. I am just curious what people think of their STOCK clutching and what they would like to see different.

I'l start this

I liked my clutch when i first got it
I like my clutch now
But the longer I have it the more I want out of it,
and you learn so much on these forums on how to do things from people that have already done it.

Some of These guys like to fiddle and thier good at it,
Me ......I'm an idiot.... when it comes to that so I just try what others have tested and liked,
If a company came out with the handsdown perfect quad
these guys would start to fiddleing...
just for fun

More low - MORE MORE MORE
more mid - MORE MORE MORE
more top - MORE MORE MORE

I'll agree with that post. I have a Hot Seat clutch kit in my TBoss, and i like it. I would, however, like to tweak a few things on it if i thought i could do it without messing things up. I like to fiddle, but am not as experienced.

I installed a RCR green primary spring. Then took it out. Then I put it back in and that is where it is staying. I might get a whole clutch kit later, then again maybe sooner. I too like to fiddle, but I'm kinda new to atving. I used to drag race at a local strip then I got married and sold the Stang. The need for speed is still in my blood and I am addicted.

I have already checked into my next purchase for my TBoss, coming this spring. $150 for labor + $430 RCR 414 bigbore kit = EXTREME FUN FOR ME. I know where part of my income taxe rebate is going this spring.

well when I first got my Scram I liked the clutching it was and is user friendly I like to tinker with things so it did not take me too long to get to wanting to try diff settings in the clutch. Well if you do anything to your bike pipe ,header ,airbox, carb, ect ect this will vchange the delivery of power when it hits when the peak is the whole curvechanges so to stay on top on the power effeciently you have to change when your clutch puts it to the ground and how.
diff size people (weight) effect it to. Polaris did a good job to make it work good for a wide variety of people but when you start getting it set up for yourself the change is night and day.
There is no magic setting for everyone. but I can tell you this out of all I have done the one thing that comes into play that i thought would not make a huge diff is clutch weights. if you change your primary change the weights I do not care what anyone says.
the primary spring helix and secondary all make improvements too butweghts do also so my advice to all call HPD or RcR or someone of the know in clutching tell them how you drive what you want in delevery your weight if ya double and they should be able to get you to a good starting point.
I will tell you this too alot of people on this forum do not like jack Schultz but the guy knows his stuff when it comes to clutches. I myself have nothing against him everyone is entitled to there own I like reading his posts he has the right to bash polaris if he so desires he owns one or two.
well Like I said clutching properly will make huge diff in the way the bike performs.

Good LUck

I put the Erlandson kit in shortly after buying my machine. I really like the difference!

Stock, my Xplorer was set up with what I call 'user friendly' clutching. It was pretty good all around, with an easy engagement, and decent acceleration. However, after I got experienced with it, and used to the engagement, felt it could hit a little harder, and not effect driveability. I tried both the white and green primary spring. THe green especially, gave a boost off the line through midrange. However, it took away some of the user friendliness of it. I have a couple nephews who are at the age where they think they can handle 'real' power, but really can't yet. So I went with the white spring. Still a boost of the line, but not too much. You have to try if you want to lift the front end on level ground. With the green spring, my Xplorer would wheelie at anything over 2/3 throttle from a standing start if the traction was there.
Maybe when my nephews are a bit older, I may go back to the green spring (kept it), or perhaps even a whole clutch kit. However, by then, maybe I will have something bigger & better.
