I am about to buy a Rancher 4x4 ES. I think that this is the right atv for me. This is my first 4 wheel drive atv. I have one concern. I am a large man, 6,0" and 290lb. Is the the ranchers single rear shock and 329cc enough for me in a 4 wheel drive. I ride mostly on woodsy trails and creekbeds and have had almost no problems in the past on a 300 fourtrax. Should I buy a larger atv or is the rancher going to fit me Ok?

I too am a relatively big guy. Not as tall but tip the scales @240. I just bought my rancher and have not noticed, at any time, a lack of power or any problems with the suspension...I have even managed to get some serious air!

Thanks, I need the input. I have been told to go ahead and buy a Rubicon but I just think it will feel heavy and clunky in the woods where we ride. (Not to mention that it is lots more bucks to purchase.

Does anyone else have any input on the subject of what size rider a rancher 4x4 ES will handle? I would like more input before I buy. Also, as I am new to this forum; where did the (weekend warrior) under the icons come from???

I'm 250lbs or so and Have added 25in mudrunners to my Rancher ES 4x4 and feel it has plenty of power for woods/trail riding in my area and have taken it up several steep hills and also drug out a 240lb buck I shot a couple weeks ago uphill with no problems at all. A friend of mine who is atleast your size if not larger has driven it several times and just ordered 2 of them to replace his older quads for him and his family. Well, I'm not a big boy per say, around 200 pounds. But the rancher (4x4es)is fine for moderate jumping with my weight, I was a little apprehensive about the rear end too. I pried my dealer as to wheather ANY had ever had a problem, none. BTW I have bottomed my rear end out a time or two on jumps, one that I do daily, but I was carrying a good fifty extra pounds of mud stuck on board.

Another tidbit, since Iowahnter mentioned it, I've run with deer on the racks to bring my loaded weight past your running weight in complete woods conditions ( non trail ) It didn't signifigantly affect anything, not the least of all hills or the like. I also ran with a spot sprayer quite a bit in the summer( weighing in at 115 pounds ) but I didn't use it off of fields, except for spraying the back of my dams a few times, it wasn't an issue either.
