rezzies or not??
#1
Hello...I have a 2002 400ex and i've decided to get some Works front shocks. I was wondering if I should get the rezzies with them? My riding mainly consists of woods trails with some jumps and some woops. I only ride about one or twice a week for no longer than 5 or 6 hours. I weigh about 215. How long does it take before the shocks start to fade out and are the rezzies worth the extra$$?
Thanks!

I have Works fronts on my R and they get warm after a few laps or a long trail ride. Reserviors will just keep the oil cooler and allow it to last a little longer before it needs changing. As the oil heats up you might notice that the shocks feel different, almost too soft.

Hello,
I have the same qustion and would like to get a little clarification. I am thinking of getting Works shocks for my son's 300ex which is only woods ridden. With the major price difference, I probably won't get them if I need to buy the ones with rezzies. For fast woods riding only, are the rezzies actually needed? I probably won't keep the 300ex for more than another year, but the front suspension seems pretty bad on the 300ex...
Thanks,
Lorrin

This may be a little off topic but do any of you think that the Works Stadium Series shocks would be a good choice? I'm kind of shying away from them now since I seemed to have bottomed out my frame a few times today while riding on a friends track. I'm kinda curious to know if the Moto 440 has this problem with it being set lower. Well I guess I'll go to the Cannondale forum to ask about that, but mainly I'm just askin yall if any of you have had some problems with Stadium Series shocks.

you would never ever bottom out your frame the only way you would is if the shock itself was shorter which it is no they just sit lower on the spring just imagine you stock shocks but with a inch inch less spring not shock leanth just spring leanth it wouldnt bottom out i have the zero preload on my elkas and have never bottomed the frame out so i wouldnt worry about that

Like the other people have said the difference between rezz and pigg back is that they let the oil inside keep cooler. The cooler the oil the better they work. It costs more in machining to make the piggy backs, both work good. If you are just a play rider and never race you can get by without them. If you are going to race, get them. I had a set of Works one time without the rezzes and after about 30 to 45 min into a Hare Scrambles race we could tell that the oil did not work like it did at the start of the race. If you have the money get them.
If you at bottoming out your quad on a jump, it might not be the shocks fault. Maybe the jump was to big or you don't have the them adjusted correctly.. Firts try checking you sag, front and back.
