I am in a weak financial position. (Damn college) I am looking at buying like a late 80's sport quad to give some TLC. I was wondering what models are fairly inexpensive. I would love a 250R but they are as much as a new ATV. I dont know much about the older quads so some heads up and some ballpark figures would be nice.
Also, i would actually like to find one that needs engine work so that i can rebuild it and save some $.

Thanks
Dan

Around here in Minnesota the most typical Screaming 1 cylinder 2 stroke is the Lt250r (Quad racer) as a matter a fact, there is one for sale at a in town dealer, 86 great shape, test drove it, runs good, no noticable deffects, for $2,200. it has a Cool head, 300big bore kit, FMF pipe, fox shocks, along with other mods.. i think its a hell of a deal, plastics even in good shape..

i would say dont plan on finding a tecate, they are Uba rare, 250r's are not as rare but get snatched up right away so be prepared to go right away to look at it.. even a old Warrior could be a nice machine to have round, or Banshee for that matter. well.. tell use how your luck goes!!

Quadracer is what you should look for. They have absolutely no re-sale value when compared to the TRX-R or the Tecate-4. You can definetely get one for cheap if you look. I picked up an 89 LT250R for 1100, but my 89 trx was 3000, both were in pretty similar condition.

I would also say the Honda 250R.
Great quad, very popular, and TONS of aftermarket parts!

I have a 1985 lt250r that is in great condition that i will sell you for $1400. It will also come with another motor. It would be a great project quad if you are interested. It really dont need anything but for the price you could really deck it out with about another $1000 dollors. I live in Michigan and will traval a little if needed. If you give me a call I can tell you all about it. 1(810)614-5392
