My Scrambler 400 2 stroke is getting water into the exhaust somehow. It runs fine but it eventually overheats from a lack of coolant. I can tell that is where the coolant is exscaping to because there are no leaks at hoses or the radiator and there is steam mixed with the exhaust. My first thought was a blown head gasket so I replaced it but the problem still exists. I pulled the jug and there is gray oil/water gunk around the crank. Could the base gasket have caused this? Something worse? I looked for cracks in the head and cylinder but they look good. It only has about 130 hours on it. Has anyone got any ideas or seen this before?

Check the compression on your engine. You can also run the engine and look inside the radiator, if you see bubbles then you have either
1: blown head gasket
2: cracked head
3: cracked cylinder

Sometimes parts have to be magnafluxed to determine where the crack is.

When my oldest son was five he used the gas can as a toilett but the
scrambler dident run very long on that mixture . If your water pump
seal is wore it could leak into the crank case .
