ii have a friend with a 335 his started doing the same thing and it ended up being the choke was stuck. my 2000 sportsman 500 started cutting out at about 1/2 throttle and mine got progressively worse and it ended up being the cam. i know quite a few people on the 500 and 500 ho that have had cam problems. the exhaust lob wears off. some of the guys i know had less than 500 miles on the bikes. you can pull the top part of the head or take the valve cover off and roll the engine over and you can see if the exhaust valves are opening all the way

I fixed the problem! My intake snorkel was getting sucked against the gas tank and shutting off my air supply. I trimmed a lot off the snorkel and it runs like new again.

Last resort try adjusting your valves and while your at it look at the cam.
