Which one is better, whats the top speed on the Recon? Which one would you get, and why? And to all of the Recon owners, How would you rate this quad? THX.

 

We've had an 02 Recon for about 8 months now and we think it's great. Great ride, good handling, and probably the most reliable you can get. However, if top speed is important to you, don't get the Recon. It's an all around great quad, but it aint fast. Dirtwheels did a matchup between the Recon and Ozark just a few months ago. They seemed to like the Ozark better, but I haven't ridden one. Hope that helps. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

 

i have an 02 recon and it is a great bike. I raced a bear tracker and competely waisted him. The recon has a huge amount of power for a 250. I put on an FMF Megamax 2 pipe and k&n power kit and it makes a HUGE difference. My friend has a Mojave and his bike only goes about 3mph faster than mine. The 02 recon can go 53mph stock and i know this because i had mine clocked by a street bike when i first got it. I don't know anything about the ozark but im sure it cant be too much better. Im not sure but i think that the ozark has an automatic transmition and thats not very good at all for hill climbing( personal experience) Hope this helps

 

The Ozark has an automatic clutch. But it's a 5 speed with reverse transmission.

ATV Action Magazine did a shootout between the Recon, Ozark and Bear Tracker. The Ozark was their top pick in just about every category.

Someone in the article made the observation that they thought Suzuki got a Recon and made a mild improvement in just about every area.

Everyone who rides my Recon just loves it. Its quick, reliable and not too small (you may want to reconsider if you are well over 200 lbs or over 6 ft tall). But the Osark does look cool -- design has come a long way in the past two years.

But had it been available at the time, I would have bought the 250EX. Unless you need the racks, a few more bucks gets you a much sportier quad. Just something to consider.

 

I have alot of seat time on both the Recon and the Ozark and to me, the Ozark is a better quad.

The Ozark feels like a Recon until you reach third gear, and then it's bye bye Recon. The Recon isn't even close to the top end power of the Ozark. A 250EX would even have a hard time catching it in that category.

The Ozark has a sportier suspension than the Recon, but no where near as sporty as the 250EX.

The BearTracker is a nice machine, but is more better compared to the Kawasaki Bayou 250 than the Recon and Ozark. To me there are now TWO classes of small bore utility/recreational quads.

 

Listen to KNOWSALOT, he speaks the truth. I too have lots of seat time on Recon & Ozark, the Ozark is better. They feel very similar but Ozark is faster and slightly better in every way. I am 230 lbs and me on my Ozark was able to run down a friend on my Recon who is 50 lbs lighter. Hey, KNOWSALOT, Where you been???
