Hey guys. I am new to this board. But I was just wondering which do you people prefer on Banshees? A twist throttle or a thumb throttle. I am going to be doing some small jumps and lots of sandy hill climbs and decents.

Thumb all the way for me. I hate twist. When you come down from a jump your hands hit the bars, you can accidentally hit the throttle, and jerk you forward like a b!tch.

My friend's 250x has a twist throttle. When I was driving over a set of whoops, my hand somehow twisted too far on the hand grip. So when I when to let off the throttle, I couldn't twist my hand far enough forward to slow down any. And since I didn't want to lose control by taking one hand off the grip, I had to pull in the clutch and come to a rough stop in the middle of the whoops. I'll take a thumb throttle, thank you. Another thing, some people accidently twist the throttle on quads when they are going up hills, causing them to come to a gentle stop......upside down at the bottom of the hill

Twist throttles are better for people used to riding dirt bikes. I put one on my Warrior and LOVED the increased response, almost felt like it added HP. The stock thumb throttle has a return spring in it in addition to the return spring(s) on the carb. Changing to the twister got rid of one of the return springs which meant less effort. Anyway, second ride I started jumping it and lost my balance landing and blew through the neighbor's wooden fence puncturing a front tire through the sidewall. Twister came off and the thumb went back on to stay. Now that I've got a dirt bike, it makes more sense. The dirt bike (Yamaha 250F) has a plusher suspension which makes for much softer landings, even from bigger jumps. The only way I would run a twister on a quad is with a better suspension then the stock setup. Just my opinion.

I would have to go with last1left and yamahagye. Thumb throttle's r much better. U wouldn't want to have an experince like 95 warrior (no offense). That would be really bad.

It's all about personal preference.

Stay with the thump, twist are to dangerous if you got out of control and your wrist moved the powerband would come on, and you'll be in big trouble, I like to ride fast and jump everything in site so I'll never have one on my quad! but for some reason it's not a problem on a bike for me.
