I actaully rolled it down the side of a very steep cliff. For some reason it didn't go all the way down and stopped on it's side (thanks to a tree). I had to leave it like that overnight to get a tow truck (my next purchase is a winch). After getting it up the hill it started fine. There was quite a bit if exhaust smoke for about 5 minutes then it cleared up. For some reason my coolant overflow cap came off and I think I lost almost all the coolant. I had to ride it back a couple miles like this, thankfully the temp light never came on. The oil level is still high. Is there anything that I should do before taking it out again? The damage was minimal but I'm more concerned about the motor etc. There wasn't any oil in the airbox either, advice??

if you lost coolant and your oil level is high, guess where some of the coolant is? change and refill the oil several times before any more use. Check the handlebars and the wheels for bending. I rolled min also and bent handlebars (barely) and left front wheel. These things are tough, but keep an eye on the engine!

Conman, my coolant cap came off so it spilled onto the ground, not into the oil (assume). The oil would have a strange appearance if there was coolant in it right?

The oil would look milky. Water could only get into the crankcase if something bigtime was wrong with the motor. Top up the fluids , check that everything is straight and get your *** up that hill and do it right this time. Good luck

Sounds like the only thing your out was an evening of riding there and one collant cap.

You can pressure test the cooling system to ensure you did not burn the gaskets while it was low on coolant, also you may want to check the alignment of the front end as it seems sometimes this gets knocked out on a quad for no apprarent reason...

The coolant light will not light if you are out of antifreeze it need antifreeze to be going around it in order for it to indicate a hot condition...

I think you are safe however hit that hill next time and take it on..up not over

Curious,

How and where do you check your alignment?

I too rolled the 650 over a couple of weeks ago. I measured the ends of the handlebars to the floor and they both are the same, so I figure my handlebars are okay.

I had the exact same thing happen to my P-360...tumbled down a steep rocky hill landed on it side up against a tree...and I got the engine smoke too...bent the handle bars and the front rack...I'm going tomorrow to get the handlebar and buy an oil filter to change the oil...Good Luck!

i was riding the local power lines and started to go down hill on a very rocky trail, i waived my son to stay to the left because it lookedeasier and he doesnt have as much experience so instead of going off the rock square i went at an angle and rolled over right on top of me. luckily i had somebody to help pull it off of me. nothing really hurt except for a bruised ego and knee.
