Barnett Clutches
#1
Hey all,
I just came back from a weekend of ridding with a new Barnett Clutch. Which i got from Alba. Friday was great. Worked just fine all day. Saturday mornig was excellent also. My son took off on it about noon. Was gone for an hr or so. Long to short, I had to go to him and toe him back. The clutch was slipping real bad. Asked him what happened. He said he was slipping the clutch to climb and play in some sand. I explained in discust the lack of need to do that with a DS. Anyway, When we got bak to camp. I adjusted it and it was fine again. Rode for about 15 mins and it needed adjusting again. It wasn't slipping yet. But the clutch would't engage until the clutch lever was almost all the way out. This went on for the rest of the weekend. Only I could get about 45 mins at a time. This morning before going out a last ride before heading home. I opened her up to have a look at the clutch plates and check the torque on the springs and stuff. The plates looked and smelled fine. Not new any longer of course but plenty of fiber on them. I use HP4 for my oil as I think a lot of you do. So I don't think it's the oil. The last fiber plate. The odd one. Does it go in the same as the rest or do you put it in the slots that don't line up. Cause thats what I did cause thats what the manual says and thats the way the stocker was in their. But this one is a 9 plate barnett so maybe??? Anyone have any similar probs or ideas.
Thanks guys....later

eagle, you would not smell anyting with the Barnett clutch because they are carbon fiber or kevlar. do a search on Barnett clutches and read my posts and others who have nuked their motors because of the sand like clutch material in the motor.

Wow thats not a good thing to here. Barnett will have a little friend at his door if thats waz up. And I do think his new friend will be very happy. I will do the search as you said. Maybe I will be going with OEM and just keep thye HD springs.
Thanks for the heads up
