The clutch in my honda 250 is getting worse. I don't know if it is slipping but sometimes I'll be driving along and it will make a clucking sound then the engine will rev. It used to do it everynow and then but now it is doing it more often. How can I tell if I need a new clutch, or just adjust it??

 

huh not sure but the noise making if its in the clutch could be a broken/ cracked spring or even a clutch plate... i would think if the clutch was shot it would slip when you get on it hard... and if you get on it hard and it makes noise it could also be slipping hope i was some help.. honda rules....... i am assuming theat you have a 250 honda which is a manual clutch... i know i had a 250 x and i got it used and if you kinda dropped the clutch hard or dropped it , it would make a funny sound but when going it never slipped it run for years my way...................[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-confused.gif[/img]

 

LoL if its the recon it will sound like that when the clutch is starting to go, mines finally starting to slip in ours. put up with alot tho. when i mash it in first it feels like it slips alot b 4 it just takes off its like riding it with an on and off switch, it lets u leave the line harder. LOL

 

It is a recon and it seems to pull good off the line but when driving it hard in 3rd and 4th gear it will make this sound. It only used to do it in 4th but now its getting worse. gonna take it in soon to get looked at.
