Broke both CV shafts in front end today!
#1
Today both shafts broke backing out of a mud hole. I couldn't make it out going forward, so I had to back out. I was almost out of the hole when I heard a pop noise. I was getting out the hole when I notice that my left front tire was not pulling. Then I heard a pop again and broke the other shaft. The right shaft ripped boot a completely come apart. I have 27-12-12 tri-claw tires all the way around.
I would like to know it anyone else had problems with the front shafts.

were you on the throttle pretty good? did the tires suddenly catch traction, like a root? did you have the tires turned or have them straight?
that totally sucks bro, sorry to hear about that... I've got bi/tri combo on mine.
Only thing I can think that would cause that is tires turned too extreme and got traction and stress popped the shafts, or it just suddenly caught ahold of a root or something. I've had that happen a few times riding the creekbed, so I've learned to take it easy in most situations where that could happen.

I snapped one side the same way. I was running 27" 589's at the time. I don't think the joints can handle the extra stress caused by the increased turning weight and the increased traction. I have since gone to a different tire.

yea my dealer is going to help me out with the shafts. The owner of the dealership and I have become good friends and he is going to try and warenty it.
I had the wheels cut all the way to the left while backing out of a deep hole that I could not make out going forward.
The left one broke first then the right one broke while I was tring to climb out. I had the front end locked the hole time.
Next time I will use gorilla cv joints instead
I'm going ride in Mississippi this weekend, I don't have time to put the gorilla's.
I will have it fixed by thursday.

I went to axlesystem website but didnt find anything on their warranty. What I said about it was second hand info from a guy who owns a 2003 Grizzly I ride with.

Just a word of advice, never have your wheels turned all the way in one direction and giving it good throttle. No matter if you have new shafts or gorilla ones or not, you will break something. Just asking for trouble when you do that... Try getting off of the machine and picking it up to reseat it in the mud instead and then back it out. Getting dirty is better than breaking shafts.
