I just got a 300ex. and I may be alone on this, but I thought the plastic covering the handlebars was really lame. So I ditched it and relocated the key switch. It changed the look so much.. it's 10 times cooler! and now I can get a alloy bar without having to remove the crossbar. has anybody else done this? I have a guy that fabricated the piece for me. He did a real neat job, very trick...

I think the handlebar cover is kind of a pain if you have to adjust your throttle cable play or something, but other than that, I like it. I think it dresses the machine up and it looks cool when riding it. It complements the color of the headlight.

hmmmmmmm if you want a reason to take it off, just roll the thing like my friend did and scrape the thing to beat hell, he relocated the key and it is sweet now, well that is one way of getting rid of it.

DG_300EX- one thing you could do is find a big enough piece of plastic and the two bolts on the handle bars are a good mount that is whay my friend did when he rolled his. just make a big enough hole in the plastic to mount the key, then bolt it to the two main blots on the handle bars. well i hope that helps.

Yes when you roll the bike its time for new handlebars i think the stock bars flex too much unlike ones with a crossbar i relocated the switch on the side plastic kind of like the mojave setup

NOOOO, he doesnt need new handlebars, it was more of a side flip and the front end just got scraped up by some trees and bushes and stuff, that is all. yeah, ok

If you take off that darn thing I need it!! I have a broken one on a completely stock bike and would love to replace it at low cost to keep it original looking. Please e-mail me if you would consider selling it to me
Thanks,
