A while back there was a question about how the Polaris four wheel drive system works. People said that there is a one way hub to the front wheels, My question is how do Polarises have four wheel drive in reverse?

It's a one way hub, determined by which way the axle rotates. The hub can turn faster than the axle, but not slower, forward or reverse.

Its a two way hub that is electomagnetically controlled. It does not matter which way the input shaft turns as long as the coil is energized and holds the hilliard clutch, it will lock the hub to the input shaft using overrunning rollers. Its real simple but you really need to see it to really understand it.

Is Polaris a true 4wd like Suz locker in that both front tires drive & makes it VERY hard to turn?
