Default Biiiiiiig Problem

Ok here's the thing. 2001 Arctic Cat 300 2x4. This didnt happen when I was at home so everything I post here is what I know as of now. Problem=My brother was riding earlier today and the Cat just stopped pulling. They tried putting it in gear and nothing happened. The engine revs and everything, but just no go. Thats all I know as of now, I just got home and thought Id ask you guys on here before I start goin berserk tryin to figure this out on my own. Anyone have any ideas? Im stumped right now.

Default Biiiiiiig Problem

Update: I just talked to my brother and he says that just before he noticed the problem, he head NO snaps or breaking noises or anything...just normal operation. I think it may be a clutch problem.

Im not very familiar with the 300's but is it possible hes sheared a pin on the drive shaft? If he heard no bangin or clunking I would tend to think its not tranny or rear end related, but obviously something in the drivetrain.Put it up on block and try to engage the tranny, check to see if the drive shaft output is turning? Can you freely turn the drives when its up on blocks?

Also try changing into the low range high range and super low.

If nothing, and you can do all the above mention to have a gear drive out, or clutch. No biggy

I thought of the low/hi range lever when my dad called me about the problem...unfortunately, it wasnt the problem. Any idea how much this problem is going to cost me if it is a clutch or gear problem?

this might be obvious but it happend to me a month or two ago on my 300. where the shift cable hooks onto the trany(back under the seat) check to make sure the cable it didnt fall off the tranny. the bolt on mine backed off so the cable was able to fall off and come unhooked from the tranny that is what happend to mine. put it back on and tighten up the bolt and i was done. i hope it is that simple for you. good luck
