Glad to hear you were finally able to get your steering column warranteed. While I can understand their point of view that the welds shouldn't break unless it's because of miss-use, a good weld should still be as strong, if not stronger than the actual steel tubing itself, so it sounds like they just had a bad day at the shop when building your bike. As for the dealer, I haven't met a dealer yet who actually was willing to work on a defect under warranty without complaining about it. I'm sorry to hear you had so much trouble getting through to them, but at least they took care of it. Glad to hear you finally got it fixed.

Happy trails!

Mike

Whats that #?

I will be chewing out some one there for sure.

My 500 just lost most of it's power to the rear wheels. They seem to be pulling some times but other times the fronts spin and there is a noise like gears striping coming from the engine and the rears don't spin.

I am looking in my 1999 model service manual and it says this:
"Rear axle shaft serration worn--broken"
remedy= "Replace shaft"

This REALY SUCKS cause:
1. I just save up enought money to order my warn 2500 winch(was gonna order it monday) and now I will either be spending it on the repairs or selling the bike.
2. I will start my job june 1st and I NEED my cat for transportation since I have not automobile and no licence.

I had this problem on my 454, (and my buddy too )It is the bearing on the rear shaft It holds the two splines together when the bearing goes bad they slip it is not hard to fix I think it cost me about $100 to do it myself ... Take it apart and you will see..
