i finished my snorkel and pipe mod and i think i am a little bit rich on the mix. at first it ran good and the plug was a little black. now it is a little blacker. today i took the airbox lid off and it ran great through all the gears, no popping or anything. with the lid on i have some surging at steady thottle and cutting out while increasing throttle. should i: adjust needle, use smaller jet, play with supertrapp discs, float adjustment?

You are running out of air, problem is at the carb..... I will try the needle first, try going up 2 notches (5-3) or go down 1 size jet and the float adjustment height is 17mm or 0.7 inch, or 44.8/64th inch or maybe make the pipe for the snorkel bigger in diameter.
