Cat 650 Stock Tires, Good or Bad?
#11
Hey HELIX its funny that you mention that the tires look 1 inch smaller in the front and say they are 26" i was in deep disscussion with my pals looking through the new brochure and the funny thing is we were all arguing about the fact that the tires look smaller up front, your the first one that i've seen on the forum that has said this, good eye man!!! P.S. i hope you don' mind, i'm going to bring this up as a new topic!

DD650 - Dave
I use a Hard case for the rear rack, mainly because of all the dust/dirt that collects on the rear of the 4wheeler. This case has to be waterproof & dustproof. The last rear hard case I used was 12 inches tall , 36"s long & I am amazed on all the stuff I could get into it, I could even put my coolers in the rear case, which keeps the coolers out of the direct sun. I don't like to go too high on the rear rack case, just in case something bad happens & I need to make a quick exit off the 4wheeler. Presently I am looking at the Cat Cargo box with the MRP mount for my Cat 650 for the rear but it is only 9 inches tall & a short 33" long. I really like this box because you can open it two ways, that would really come in handy, I just wished it was about 3 inches taller & 7" longer. When I pick up my Cat MRP650 on December 12th, I'll stop in at one of the other Dealers up in Richfield & take a look at all of his hard cases, this dealer had a load of them in stock last August & many many brands & styles & heights to chose from, maybe I'll beable to find what I am looking for.
On the front rack I use a soft bag I got from www.basspro.com Part# 29-801-004 for $50.00, it is 9 inches tall. Whats really nice about this soft case are the tie straps are "Straps with a buckle" (4) vs that don-gon velcor that doesn't hold up in all of the changes in weather. This Soft case only comes in the camo colors, no black but again this case holds all of my repair stuff, including a complete compact tool kit,tow strap, winch items, rain gear, maps, GPS,Spark plugs, other tools, electric air pump, poncho, extra gloves and I still have room for other small items. I have had this soft case now for 3 years & it still looks like new, no zipper problems at all. I've tried the Kolpin soft cases at twice the price, just to throw them away after a year because of cheap zippers or the velcor tie-downs loops rip away from the corners of the bag!
The other MRP rack options I will need will be the back rest & Gun scabbard kit, both now on order & the chain saw lock mount for my spring riding. May even get the rear cargo quick release kit (nice idea) as it should work on any rear hard case.
Keep'n touch, be nice to meet up with you next September.
