Mudlite vs 589
#1
I would like to know how these tires perform on solid obsticles. Will they grip/grab going up frozen ground, rocks or logs/stumps or do they just spin. Curious to know if one out preforms the other.

the mud lites are a good tire the soft rubber performes like a blizzak tire on the ice.
i think there a better tire then the 589s.
my buddy had 589s on his 450es honda now he has a rubicon with mud lites and he says there way better then the 589s.

Yeah those mudlites are nice tires until you hit something on the side wall and get punctured I KNOW 3 PEOPLE THAT GOT THESE TIRES AND one put a stick threw one tire the other caught a chunk of cement and tore a hole in the side wall the other guy we,re not sure what he did but we all travel the same ruts and I,VE NEVER SEEN SO MANY FLAT TIRES seen these mudlites have come out but they sure are impressively lite for the kind of riding I do I think I stick with something with a bit more meat on the shoulders one tire got fixed they cut a hole in it and vulcanized it the other two garbage and by the way all these tires had hardly any miles on them my opinion go with some meatier sidewalls like the gator those are nice tires not sure what the 589 ,s are but I believe there made by titan good tires

Gators seem to be great tires for ruff terrain like rocks, mud/water with rocks, log climbing, etc. Mud Lites, look aggressive and probably will do a good job for dirt, sand gravel type areas. Mud & snow are no problem either for that style of tire but when you look at them as a means of assurance for traveling through sharp rocky areas or as we must do at times, travel on concrete or blacktop roads, it becomes clear that these tires may have trouble holding up to the heat and abrassiveness of the material. The spiny cups that grip mud, will be ripped and breaking off during a trip on concrete. At least, that's what it looks like in my eyes. I'll watch to see how my friends that have them, like them after a summer of riding.
The 589's Titans/ITP, are very tuff. And they are lighter than some other model tires you could afford. When you're on hard surface, these tires tend to raise the diameter of the rubber off the ground due to the solid 1.25 inch lugs on the bottom. That makes the tires run cooler on hard surface and help protect the tires on sharp rocky surfaces too. Still, they are very good mudders and snow riders.
My friends say, Mud Lites are much smoother riding than the 589's. I think they are probably right. If you don't want to give up comfort, get the Mud Lites. If you want tires that will last, go for the 589's or similar tires. Stay away from the two ply tires, unless you're only going to ride in the sand dunes.
Any comments are welcome,
Chuck

i know 3 people that have mud lites and i like the way thay perfom on there quads but i dont know how tough thay are.
i do know i have 1800 miles on my gators and there hardly worn at all.
and as for being tough there 6 ply and with no air thay still look ok.
also i ran over a nail with them it went right into the thick lug and bent the nail around the lug.
i also have some cuts and scrapes on the side walls and thay just look like scratchs.
as far as im concernd GATORS rule.
