My 650 went into limp mode after 10 miles, I got the "plug" from the dealer and I got out of the limp mode but the Diff lock dasn't work. Do you think there is any connection between the two. It seems to me that the Diff.

No noise it's just a cable that tightens up the frt diff clutch pack. (mechanical)
Limp mode is just a rev limiter.
to check your Diff lock, just engage it drive about 10 feet and try to turn. LOL

When you flip the lever into "locked" it should go into 4wd (you'll hear the noise) as well as lock up the diff clutch. If you're already in 4wd and then flip the lever, then you'll hear nothing.

When you use the electric switch for 2x4-4x4 you will hear a little motor noise. BUT... if there is pressure on the diff. you may need to drive the bike a little. When I unloaded my bike, it was locked and in 4x4 mode. I switched off the dif lever and the electric diff, and no noise. I almost reloaded the bike at that moment. I tried riding the bike a bit, and sure enough, it disengaged.
Hope that is all there is to it on yours... You might check your fuses just in case...
