Default Which tires would be good for the Arctic Cat 400?

Hello All..

I've had the 2003 Arctic Cat 400 4x4 for 2 years now. And the rear tires are getting pretty worn out, the front ones looks pretty good. I've been working that 4 wheeler pretty good mostly on the garden draging for weeds, I mean pulling hard with 3 big, huge rocks on the drag, and pulling it on the dirt. Also have been using it for snowremoval on my 1/4 mile driveway.. I just love my 400!! I don't know where I'd be without it... I use it pretty much for everything...rides, yard work, snowremoval..hunting. You name it, I've done it. I just love that thing to death...

No problems with it at all, been taking good care of it. Oil, lubrication..etc. One question I have is that I don't understand the sizes of the tires... I'm in need of new rear tires. The tires on them right now shows 25x11x12 and I've looked endlessly on line for tires..There's so many of them. But only a few for 25x11x12 sizes..the ones I could only find for that specific sizes are Dunlop KT127B, Goodyear Rawhide Grip, Titan 489. Here's the link....It shows the tire size chart.

">Tire Size Chart</a>

I don't know what to make of the sizes. What does it mean? Would it matter if I get a different size like 25x10x12 or 25x12x12? The weight? The size?
I'd want a tire that's excellent for mud/snow, and for yard work, really tough and last long! I've got 830 miles on my 400 which is I think is not too many miles on it...making me think that I really used them tires I have on now used up.

Any info, recommendations, tips would be greatly appreciated. Where can I find some good tires?

Thanks in advanced.

The tire you're describing is a Bearclaw. They're excellent in the snow, and good everywhere else. They also wear like iron and vastly improve the handling. They are heavier than your stockers, but they're 6 ply, and almost indestructable. I have 27" on mine, 10" in the front, and 12" in the rear, and no problems so far. Also, with the bearclaw, if you get 26" tires, they're 9.5" in the front and 12" in the rear, which on stock rims, protects the rims from dings and scratches. I would definetely recommend the Bearclaws.

The tire sizes are broken down like this AxBxC A=height B=width C=rim diameter. You have 25x11x12 you can use a 25x10x12 or 25x11x12 or 25x12x12. As for tires to use....did the stock type tread serve you well or do you want something more agressive? If the stockers were good for your type riding....maybe Titan 489's, Carslile TrailWolf, or Maxxis BigHorns. If you want something more agressive try the ITP MudLites, Kenda BearClaws, Or even the Maxxis MudBug. You will gain alot of off-road performance with the later tires but may loose the ride quality you have with the less agressive tires. I hope this helps. Maybe others will have more suggestions for tires as I have only been around the ones I have listed.
