My Cat Auto has this annoying backfire. If I run full throttle and let off on the throttle as the rpm's drop it will backfire, sometimes loudy with a beautiful flame shooting out the pipe. Dealer has no friggin clue.
I was doing a little riding and hunting in Wyoming and South Dakota this week when I noticed that the brake fluid resovoir was leaking. The cap and screws were tight so I removed it cleaned it up and put it back on.Hopfully that will solve the leak.Anyone have something similar happen.

I think it's your jetting.

My 500 back fires alittle at high speed, when the compression braking kickin, but it is only annoying when I runn out of gas.

Mike- It is your jetting. Mine did the same thing to me on the backfiring. If it continues or it starts to smoke when you fire it up or when you press in on the throttle just adjust your jetting or take it to your dealer and let them. My 98 AC 454 still backfires after you build up RPM's and let off fast. Not all the time but if I have it ***** to the wall. Have you experienced the smoking?

Mine will also backfire, usually when decelerating, or when you shut if off after a hard ride. Most of the people I ride with that have cats have the same problem.

Thanks for all the replies. The dealer tells me this is "normal" and will go away on its own.I will get them to fix it.

The black smoke I mentioned was coming out of the tail pipe. That may sound dumb, but I was just making sure everyone knew what I was talking about. It only did it until I cleaned the carb and had it rejetted.
