Well I must be wrong but I thought someone at the top of this posting was asking for some advice.

I have a 500 manual and a 650. I have a friend with a 500 auto and I would recomend that you stay with the 500 auto. The manual will be the best but if you want to go auto go with the 500.

I ride with a bunch of Polaris', Hondas and yamaha's and I would have to say that the Yamaha's are the only ones that don't seem to break. The Honda's are right next to them. The Arctic Cats are right up there as well. I have always been happy with mine. The Polaris' always have something borken. Their plastic is cheep and they have more grease fittings than anything I have ever seen. Even though they weigh a lot they are easy to tow back to the parking lot with my Arctic Cat 650.

Go with the 500. You won't regret it.

I would go with the 500 auto. I have a TRV and use the 60 inch plow to push gravel with no problem. It will easily out pull my friends 2003 Rubicon and is built pretty stoutly. I bought mine from Flingingers in Trivoli and the one they sell the most of to farmers is the 400 I. My dealer dumped Polaris and picked up Arctic Cat because of the problems Polaris had with their machines and dealer support. Ask for Keith at 309-362-2458.

Well I have a Prairie 650 and I'm very pleased with it but for what you are doing I would have to go with the 500, because the belt does stay engaged. I could be wrong because they have made improvements to the drive train since I got mine. I have all the bugs worked out now and the thing realy ROCKS. I have over 2500mi. on my first belt and it is still going strong but I don't tow any heavy loads. Well I hope this helped. My friend just got a 650AC and I have'nt got to ride it yet. I can't wait!!!!!!

Well mr. Mad dog..

I hate to break the News to you..But Those wheels are directly effected by the engine braking system..In fact we went as far as disconnecting the rear axles and the e/b/s still slowed the machine down..So ahh eennnnr you are wrong..

Thank you Ride on..

Sorry Mxracer222, you can lie all you want, we all know the front wheels will not work with engine braking. Go to the Polaris site and they will tell you the same thing.

Thanks for the backup on that Catterman. I have seen it myself, I do a lot of things, but lying is not one of them.

To get back to the original question at hand... I use a quad on my farm, to get me and tools around, and to haul loads of firewood - mostly oak and walnut - probably 500-600 pound trailer loads. Cover some pretty rough ground, so IRS was a bonus, and haul some heavy loads, so a manual transmission would have been a plus.

What did I get? A Cat 500i manual. If your primary duty is work, why would you get anything else? The manual is exactly what I wanted, and right now Cat offers the only big IRS quad with a manual. Got my Cat two years ago, and have never regretted it.

Guys...You did not have to make such harsh acusations.I did remove the rear axles from the machine..I did go down the hill..The wheels did not freewheel..I will call polaris directly and ask them..I would like to know the truth myself..
