I went from a P650 to a AC 650 and so far I haven't regretted it. Other than the stock tires that are totally worthless I haven't had any problems. The ride is awesome and the handeling is pretty good since I changed tires. I have around 400 miles on it and it hasn't missed a beat. I also went to the p700 primary and the epi black secondary before it had 50 miles on it . Haven't heard a peep from the belt.

Why do they have to keep the weight under 604??
Because supposedly that is the max weight for one crate shipped to the us. Therefore they cant have an atv that weighs more without some serious shipping dilemmas.

SPjohn:
The 604# weight limit is a supposely highest weight allowed by all of the Japan 4wheelers for the big-bores & that includes Hon,Kawie,Suzy & Yama. So far, all 4 have been good not to go over this weight limit. My Cat comes in at 667 according to the title.

The Silverton/Lake City trip is a must for anyone who wants a challenging ride, beautiful high country, Ghost towns & wildlife everywhere. Glad you liked the pics.
Went to the Paiute Trails last summer, had fun but for me the Paiute trails remind me allot of where I ride here in New Mexico, so I don't see a need to go back to the Paiute.
No, we can't ride into town like Paiute but here where I live you couldn't do that anyway b/c of the terrain, too many cliffs.
I am going to be at Moab,Utah next week on a 5 day atventure with 4 other atvers including Jerico1, which I have never met before, we reserved 2 cabins at the Archview RV campground from the 14th-19th of April. If any of you are in the area, look us up, lets all go out on a trail ride together.
After I get back from Moab, I will get our ATVenture pics posted on my Webshots page, hopefully by the 20th of April.

Beware of the rear axles on the Grizzly. My husband has broken both in a one year period. We're told there is too much torque.

That is what I did to my '04 Grizzly. I got a 27x12-12Outlaw Radial rear tire wedged hard underneath a 24" high overhanging rock ledge while trying to squeeze through a really tight spot on a rock crawling trail. With the Grizzly in low, and the front diff locked, I started easing into the throttle, and just kept easing into the throttle, with more and more throttle being applied until I was at wide open throttle. The CVT belt never slipped, and the tires never turned, until ... BANG!, shattered rear axle. The funny part was that the concussive force of that axle letting go was enough to break off that overhanging rock ledge. It sounded like a bomb going off, and shrapnel flew everywhere, from both the shattered axle and the broken rock ledge. Scared me half to death, LOL. I would say the Grizzly has plenty of torque.

Outer limit, that axle breaking had more to do with your situation, the way you rode the bike, and the larger tires than the design of the axle.

On the 03 grizzlys there was a problem with the cv axles. Basically yamaha tried to cut a corner for 03 and it didnt work so they fixed it for 04.

Maybe not deserved, but it's not all the bikes fault. Did you go gorilla or just a new stocker?

I bought an '04 650v-twin about 2 months ago ---- i have had some PROBLEMS WITH It!!!!!!!! - #1. I was riding about 16miles away from my house, and all the sudden it just cut out, w/o hesitation. Went to start it back up, would turn over but wouldnt start. Come to find out that there was a bad ground in the key switch according to my local dealer *covered under warranty* --- #2. the belt light came on, and went into limp mode, after only 603 miles.... good think 'cat' came out w/ the 'trail side reset'.... then TODAY:::::: i was riding home, and was in my yard thankfully, going up my hill, when all the sudden i sunk straight to the ground.... the rear left shaft snapped.... i mean SNAPPED.. the wheele fell off and everything..... --- we'll see how my local dealer likes this EXPENSIVE fix.

ALTHOUGHT -- THERE IS A FEW DEFINITE POSITIVES: 2year warranty, 4 wheele differential. 2/4. low/high. front end comes off the ground INSANELY EASY... - independant rear/front suspension. radial tires. *i found it rides/handles alot better w/ 8 PSI in all 4 tires even though it says 3 or 4* power is INSANE... i love the quad other than the problems.. she handles like a beaute.

-------------
own: '04 cat650v-twin
'03 yz125
'00 yz80
'94 blaster
'72 skidoo elan
