I think your beef is with your dealer, not the company. There are known fixes for this problem, posted here, and on other forums. Try adding additional chassis grounds, from engine to frame, capacitors in the charging cct, etc. I wasn't cussing you, I was trying to help with a problem, as sometimes mods cause the problems. If you deny that they're causing it, you can't eliminate the possibility. The limp mode is seemingly caused by a voltage spike in the system, a capacitor will suppress this, and hopefully solve the problem, getting mad about it isn't going to fix it. My buddy got his 650 from Toads, they said it will go into limp mode at 100 hrs, it's service interval. It did and he reset it, with no further problems. They aren't going to look at your belt if you have no complaint about it. If you smoked it, or it had a performance problem, they'd have to look into it as part of the warranty. There are better belts out there for this bike, Dayco makes one of them.

i just put in the dynatek cdi in my fourwheeler for this weekend and it is supposed to take care of the limp mode problem and it does run alot smoother and better and you don't have to hit the overide button to go in reverse now and i gained alot of horsepower which goes to prove there are some mods out there that will make it a much better machine and give you fewer problems for it does run cooler and smoother now even though i think it was 245 dollars now i don't have to worry bout the limp mode anymore and after i put that black spring in the secondary clutch and took the shim out and really watch where i run high range i don't have a belt problem anymore yes this is stuff that i shouldn't have to take it upon myself to do for these problems shouldn't exist but now i have a strong solid atv that i can ride for hours on end and the last thing i got on my mind is something breaking on it by the way i love this machine more then anything else i have ever driven we are all after the same common goal to have minimal to no problems with our atv's and this is a great site to share and trade info we have heard and hopefully we will keep things civilized

How do you like the 650 compared to the 500i , is the ride smoothed out due to the extra weight ? and how about the center of gravity does it affect the handling more than the 500. The reason I ask is I now own a 500i manual shift and was contemplating trading up to a 650

hey ewen
well the 650 to me feels like it might ride a lil better i believe that is due to the gas tank being down and behind you putting more weight on the rear axles and they handle about the same except you gotta realize the 650 has WAYYYY more horsepower then the 500i both are good fun tough machines and you can't go wrong with either one you just gotta ask yourself if you need the horsepower and the differential lock is sweet good luck on your decision and i don't think there is any weight difference between the two of them

Nope, up until now, AC has used Suzuki and Kawi engines. They're just starting to build thier own motors, the H1 650 being the first of them. I think AC needs a 450, 550 and 650. Going up to 750-800 is just overkill and it's gonna break things more often. We'll see with the Kawi I guess.

Nah, can't see a turbo being any good, the conditions in which the bike operates would be too much for it. One ingestion of water, and you can write that turbo off, it'll break all the vanes. I think EFI is a possibility, maayybe, variable valve timing or something like that. Only induction I can think of that would be any good, is an electrically driven supercharger in the air box, that might stand a chance if you don't sink it.

Since we only ride 400's, this belt problem hasn't affected us. But I DO remember hearing somewhere that the 650's were supposed to be left in low range unless you were going 50 or so. Well HELL, who does THAT? If I could be doing 50 mph on a road, I'd probably be there in my p/u... Nevertheless, I don't get it. If there was going to be a belt problem that leaving it in low range fixed, why even HAVE a high range?
And I won't be one of the first buying the new Arctic Cat "home made" 650 either. I'll wait until all those that DO buy it iron out all the inevitable bugs.
Now I've got to go mow the lawn with my Honda mower...
