Dunno if the wires are the same color, but I put a toggle switch on my Kawa 650.
Check the wire colors at the override button and find them farther down the harness. Bridge them with a switch.... this does not hurt the belt sensor at all, but you can do reverse wheelies in FWD so...
You can see how I did in on the Kawa 650 which may or may not help ya.... check the link below....

Hi...junplug the wire from the tranny on the left side.it isa single prong 90 degree .............and it is off all the time then.....i know it can bea bitch when stuck and need to use rev.and it runns like in limp mode.....i unplugged it and left it unplugged......that way if u need to take it to the shop....just plau it back in
