I am looking for a way to replace the "heel to toe " shifter on my 2003 arctic cat 400. There is nothing available from arctic cat for models after 2002. I know these have suzuki engines, what i dont know is if the suzuki toe shifters would work. If anyone has tried to make the "toeshift" conversion. Any info would be appreciated. I would love to have a regular shifter on my bike.

 

You can cut cut off the heel portion and ben the toe portion so you can get your foot under it.

 

Then slide a rubber hose over the end of the lever to protect your shoe. Works good, did it for a friend who's to old to learn to shift different than the 100 Hondas he's owned.

In some catalogs it says that toe shifter works on only thru 2002 cats, however I found one that says it works on the 2003's also and I know there was an engine change, but the tranny stayed the same so it should work.

 

I have seen them for 2003 models as well. Don't remember where, but I seem to recall them being about $25.

The toe shifter only works on the 02 and older 400s. You can either cut off the back part and reposition it a little so you can get a boot under it easily (I got size 15s so it wouldn't work for me anyway) or the 05 shifters come with the 2 piece shifter and all you have to do is remove a bolt or two and it converts into a toe shifter. I am not sure if the 04 to 05 shifter stuff is the same but I wouldn't see a reason why they would have to chnge it. That might be something to look into.....
