Default auto transmissions 4x4's

I am purchasing a 05 400 4X4 tomorrow, haven't positivly made my mind up as to auto or manuel. Could some of you with experience with the auto transmission tell me some pros and cons PLEASE. Lots of money to spend for me and I don't want to make a mistake. I am leaning toward the auto. HELP!!!!!!!!!
Thanks in Advance.

Default auto transmissions 4x4's

Auto vs Manual is a preferance thing. Each with their particular pros-cons. For instance I like my Manual 400 because I like to shift gears. While my wife prefers the auto where she can just pin the throttle and go.

Basically - Auto Trans you loose a little power (very lilttle from what I can tell) from the pulleys, you have a (rare) possability of slipping a belt if it gets wet and gets slightly less gas mileage than a manual due to running at a higher rpm. But, its easier to use, you are always in the power band from running at a higher rpm and never have to wonder if you are in the proper gear.

Manual - You have to watch your feet so you don't bump the shifter inadvertently, you need to know what gear you are in, you have to get used to the rocker shifter (which can be replaced with a normal shifter), you get better gas mileage than an auto, have slightly more power, don't have to worry about a belt slipping.

To me these are "preference things". I suggest you ride both a manual and an auto more than just around the parking lot of the dealer if possible. I do see more auto's being used than manuals, I think due to their ease of use but, that's my opinion not a fact.

Hope this helps.
