i flipped the switch after i was out of the mud thinking it came out but when i came to a
stop i noticed a noise coming from the front diff sounds like something spinning
turns out noise is when switch is in 2wd position and bike stays in 4wd so i had to finish the day in 4wd

i had the same problem 20 min fix pull the black cover off front left side there is the little black box take the 7 or 8 screws off cover you see all gears are plastic when its in 4 wheel drive the screw is all the way out. For some reason the microswitch didnt stop the motor at 4 wheel mode and stripped the screw or melted it. Clean up the threads so the the theads will start , I used a utility knife put back together and try it out if it works reasemble it and ride .The dealer ordered a new box for me and its on backorder cost $169.00 but my ride is still under warrenty.

The Arctic Cat 4WD engagment is setup to where if there is a loss of power or a bad switch, broken wire, etc,,, it is designed to go into 4WD as the default mode. This way you will not get stuck back in the woods in 2WD. Like you mentioned you may have to finish your day in 4WD, but it will not leave you stranded. When you engage the diff lock it cuts the power to the diff and that is what shifts it into 4WD. So even if your switch is on 2Wd and you engage the diff lock it will shift into 4WD. Other ATVs (like Polaris) you have to have juice to engage their 4WD, no juice no 4WD. The spinning noise is the engaement motor running. It will keep running if the stop inside broke or one of the small gears broke. If it was not sealed properly warranty will cover it. Good Luck
