My 2004 650 v2 does the same thing, I just got it second hand. It drives me crazy going down steep grades. I called the dealer and asked about belt tightening but he said that it probabaly wouldnt help. It doesnt act normally like other 4 wheelers going down hills. Mine free-wheels at about 5-6 mph and I have to bump the gas and brake together. You shouldnt have to do this! Help!

 

Mine works fine on casual grades, but the really steep stuff it doesn't seem to do a whole lot. Lotta weight to hold up if its really steep.
