What year model is my AC300 4X4?
#1
Hi guys, I bought a 300 4X4 today from a friend that has a pawnshop. I have no idea what year model it is. There is a serial # over the left rear tire, but it's greek to me. Any quick way to tell? Thanks .

Not sure how to read serial numbers, post some pictures of it and we can tell ya.

the tenth digit of the serial number will tell you what year it is. or if it is a newer one it will start out with the year
example- 4uf00cat*********= 2000
4uf01cat*********=2001
4uf02cat*********=2002
etc

Thanks, it's a 4uf00 so I guess it's a 2000 model. Not a bad deal for $500. Cleaned the carb out, charged the battery and it fired right up. It has two torn boots and the speedo looks like it may be broken. Anyone know if these models came with Titan AT 489's or have these been replaced. (trying to get a idea of actual milage) Speedo says 1350, but who knows if it's correct. Thanks.

you're mistaken, the 2001's had the graphics with the hills and trees in the background. the 2000's just had a few graphics and said arctic cat

yep, thats right. mountains and crap were 01. I thought that was lame. It and the ugly shade of green didn't blend well. 2000 had an updated Arctic Cat logo with different colors. I liked the 98-99 logo a lot better.

This one has "4WD" (colors are red & white) below "ARCTIC CAT" (black with white outline) below "300" (in red).
On another question, I will have to repair some boots and I wanted to know if the shafts remove like my Polaris and just pop out with a snap ring inside to hold them in place. Thanks.

Yep, should be like that. Just have to pull hard to get those snap rings out. Those 300's are tanks, great machine you got there. Good luck.
