What do you mean the reverse "rod"?

IF you realy need reverse reach down near the exhast pipe while in netural and move the reverse lever thats on the motor.

There is a rod connected to the reverse lever,
its covered by rubber.
I wasnt aware of a reverse on the motor, where is it located??

It's on the left side behind the range selector. Not an easy spot to get to while sitting on the quad.
I was looking in the shop manual and from what you described it sounds like the cable for forward & reverse broke. Just replace the cable.

Its not a cable that is broken. Its a round metal rod. It may connect to a cable somewhere down the line. Anyway it runs from the reverse lever up
nearly underneath the handle bars , then curves
around to the other side of the motor and back
down to the transmission. It looks like heck to
replace.

You're right, it does look like a pain in the butt. I had to replace my speedometer cable last month and thought that would be easy, man was I wrong! Oh well, if you don't feel comfortable doing the work, you're just gonna have to take it somewhere and get it done.

If you've never done anything like this before and deceide to do it, just take your time.
If you have a Polaroid camera, take pictures as you progress through the job.
