Default 2005 plastic floor boards

Got a question for '05 owners. How are the plastic floor boards holding up? They look cool but wondered how they are holding up. Anyone broken one yet?

So far, so good... though I only seriously tested one once...hung up pretty well on a rock to one side. Flexed pretty well and rebounded. No harm no foul- most of my "non trail" riding involves riding over brush and saplings and the boards have not been an issue.

Yeah, there goes the one thing Doug Meyer said he liked about the Cats. Now he'll just hate everything...

I thought those plastic floor boards were actaully plastic covers over the typical AC metal mesh floor boards we all know and love. Sort of a deal to add some style and water/mud protection.

???????

Not looking at it right now, but my recollection is there is a steel support that comes out from the (frame?) along the leading edge, at the rear of the front fender well, and runs the outer edge to the rear of the footboard, and the end of that support is hung, up through the inside of the rear wheel well. The only "solid" foot support is a standard steel foot peg on each side which is incoporated in the plastic. I dont believe that the footpeg is connected to the footboard brace... All from memory, correct me if I'm wrong-

The floor boards are basicly the same as the previous year models, they just have plastic covering the steel. They are still the best floor boards.

Your dead on MB!

I liked the metal one's on my old 2000 500, very solid, but I haven't had any problems with my 2005 650 plastics yet.

Two possible reasons why AC would do this comes to mind, cost and weight!
